Oregon Trail Interlude (7.24.11)

We had a fortuitous stop at a campground that abutted the Oregon Trail!

We caulked the wagon & were ready to ford the river, but saw this sign and decided to head back to the general store to resupply.

Mt. Rainier National Park (7.21.11)

The Mountain played hide-and-seek while we visited.

We did get to see ... glaciers! And the impressive paths they have carved.

Seriously - is this July?

That's more like it!

We also stopped to ponder the Grove of the Patriarchs.

Douglass Firs over 1000 years old!

Olympic National Park (7.17.11)

The Olympic Peninsula is an incredible combination of coastline, rainforest, and presumably mountains though they were hidden in the fog while we were there.

To get to one beach we tromped along a path of mud - often requiring ropes to navigate the steep sections.

It was well worth it.

The rainforest was full of moss ... everywhere.

Plus dangerous stream crossings,

pleasant stream perches,

and forest creatures.
